How do you open the glove box door and replace the Cabin Air Filter on Chevrolet Malibu?

Open the glove box door. For 2015 and earlier models, disconnect the door dampener string and slide a pen or pencil through the loop to prevent the string from retracting into the door. For 2016 and later models, pull the dampener arm towards the front of the door and unhook it from the door by pulling the dampener arm towards the large end of the slot and then pulling the tab out of the slot. Squeeze both sides of the glove box door until the stops clear the sides of the opening and lower the door. Release the Cabin Air Filter door clips and remove the door. Pull the Cabin Air Filter out of the housing. Slide the Cabin Air Filter back into the housing, ensuring the airflow arrows on the filter are pointing downward, then close the door and reinstall the fasteners. The remainder of installation follows the reverse order of removal.
