How to remove and install a Expansion Valve in an automotive air conditioning system?

Have the air conditioning system discharged by an automotive air conditioning technician. Detach the fuel and brake lines and move them aside for access to the A/C Expansion Valve, if necessary. Remove the refrigerant line fitting nut and detach the line fitting from the A/C Expansion Valve. Remove A/C Expansion Valve insulation, then remove the A/C Expansion Valve-to-firewall mounting bolts, then remove the valve. Discard the old sealing O-rings. If reused, leaks may occur. Plug all open lines and fittings to prevent contamination of the air conditioning system. Installation is the reverse of removal. Use new O-rings or seals lubricated with refrigerant oil as necessary. Have the system evacuated, recharged and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
