    Q:
How do you remove and install the knock sensor on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To begin the removal process, disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal, then raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands before removing the engine compartment under-cover. For V6 engines, the Bank 1 knock sensor is found on the right side of the engine block, just below the exhaust pipe connection to the cylinder head, while the Bank 2 knock sensor is on the left side, in front of the starter. If removing the Bank 1 knock sensor, take off the heat shield fasteners and the heat shield if present, then disconnect the electrical connector and remove the bolt in the center of the knock sensor to take it out. In V8 engines, the Bank 1 knock sensor is located on the left side of the engine block in front of the oil filter housing, and the Bank 2 knock sensor is on the right side, in front of the starter. Disconnect the electrical connector from the knock sensor, remove the bolt in the center, and take out the knock sensor. For installation, follow the reverse order of removal and ensure the knock sensor bolt is tightened to the specified torque.

    Q:
How to remove and install knock sensors on Chevrolet Impala? Posted by Customer
    A:
A pair of knock sensors is set up on either side of the block; they are located at the upper middle region of each block side, just below the exhaust manifolds. For V6 models, lift the front of the vehicle and safely support it on jackstands. While removing the knock sensor from the rear cylinder bank (bank 1) on a 3.9L V6 engine, detach the catalytic converter. Unplug the electrical connector housing from the knock sensor. When taking off either of them, remove its electrical connector as well as retaining bolt in case of a V6. Loosen knock sensor attaching nut and take out sensor. The reverse is true for installation; furthermore ensure that you have tightened down your sensor attaching nut for good measure . With reference to V8 models empty cooling system. You should raise front-end of car and secure it using jack stands.Disconnect knock sensor electrical plug.On a V8 engine, if you would like to remove a knock sensor first unplug its electrical connector then unscrew retaining bolt.Remove knock sensing unit retentive boll and withdraw sensing unit.Remember to tighten bolt after installing this kind of component.Pour coolant into system again.

    Q:
Where is the knock sensor located, and How to its removal and installation on Pontiac G6? Posted by Customer
    A:
The knock sensor for the four-cylinder models is located on the block just beside the starter motor. Start with raising the front side of the car and then placing it on stands that will help in holding it up. Remove the knock sensor wiring harness which is connected to the dipstick tube, unscrew the dipstick tube and take it out. Then ,you have to unscrew the electrical connector from knock sensor, unscrew the sensor retaining bolt and pull out the sensor. Installation is done in reverse order to removal while tightening of the mounting bolt is done to the required torque. On the V6 models, there are two knock sensors on the front side of the block, in the upper middle position, and close to the exhaust manifolds, thus they are of difficult access and require the car to be lifted. Jack up the vehicle and make certain it is supported firmly on jackstabs. If employed in the working on the rear sensor of 3.6L V6 engine, then you should take off the lower heat shield of the exhaust manifold. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor, then remove the nut and bolt, and the sensor. Just as with the four-cylinder models, installation is the reverse of removal, tightening of the mounting bolt to the correct torque is the last step.

    Q:
How do you remove the knock sensor on Pontiac Torrent? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the knock sensor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. If you're working on a 3.0L or 3.6L V6 model, remove the starter motor. For 2013 and later 3.6L models, the left-side knock sensor is located between the oil filter and the starter motor. If you're removing a knock sensor from the rear of the engine, remove the right catalytic converter. Next, disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector. Finally, unscrew the knock sensor retaining bolt and detach the sensor from the engine block. To install the knock sensor, simply reverse the removal steps and be sure to tighten the bolt to the specified torque.
