    A: To remove the tie-rod ends, start by cutting off the inner boot clamp and discarding it. Use pliers to squeeze the tangs and slide the outer boot clamp off the boot. Then, detach the boot from the vent cross tube (if equipped) and slide the boots off the tie-rod. Before installing the new boots, wrap the threads on the ends of the tie-rods with a layer of tape to protect the small ends of the new boots during installation.
