    Q:
How to replace a coil spring on Chevrolet Blazer,S10,GMC Jimmy and Sonoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace a coil spring on a vehicle, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle securely on jackstands. Remove the shock absorber and disconnect the stabilizer bar from the lower control arm. Loop a length of chain through the control arm and coil spring, and bolt the chain together, ensuring there is enough slack. Position a floor jack under the inner edge of the lower control arm and raise it slightly to relieve spring pressure. Remove the rear bolt first, then the front, tapping them out if necessary. Slowly lower the jack until the coil spring is fully extended. Remove the safety chain and maneuver the coil spring out, being careful not to damage the balljoint. During installation, place the insulator on top of the coil spring and install the top into the spring pocket and the bottom in the lower control arm. Ensure the tape on the coil spring is towards the bottom and the end of the lower coil covers one drain hole while leaving the other unobstructed. Raise the lower control arm to align the bolt holes and install the pivot bolts, tightening the nuts but not completely. Install the shock absorber and connect the stabilizer bar to the lower control arm. Finally, install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts. Reach under the vehicle and tighten the pivot bolt nuts to the proper torque.
