    Q:
How to disconnect and remove the front differential and related components on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, then loosen the front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the under-vehicle splash shield and drain the engine oil and front differential lubricant. Disconnect the front driveshaft from the front differential companion flange, wrapping tape around the bearing caps to prevent them from falling off, and support the driveshaft with wire or rope. Disconnect the ABS wheel speed sensor and free the harness from its retainers, then unbolt the brake hose retainer where it joins the metal line at the frame. Disconnect the stabilizer bar links from the stabilizer bar, remove the upper balljoint pinch bolt, and separate the steering knuckle from the upper control arm, ensuring the knuckle does not fall outward and the brake hose is not strained. Place a floor jack under the lower control arm, unscrew the two shock absorber module-to-frame nuts, lower the jack, and detach the shock module from the frame. Drive the inner CV joint out of the differential or off the intermediate shaft while having an assistant support the steering knuckle and shock absorber module. Use wire or rope to support the inner end of the driveaxle to the frame, as well as the steering knuckle and shock module. Repeat the previous steps on the other side of the vehicle, then remove the steering gear, the intermediate shaft bearing housing, and the intermediate shaft. Remove the differential carrier mounting bolts, separate the differential carrier from the oil pan, and tie it to the frame with wire. Remove the oil pan, place a jack beneath the differential carrier, carefully untie its support wire, position it on the jack, and lower it to the floor. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, ensuring all fasteners are tightened to the proper torque values, including the wheel lug nuts, and refill the engine with oil and the front differential with the proper lubricant.
