A: To remove the front differential on a vehicle, first disconnect the battery cable and remove the wheels. Drain the lubricant from the differential and remove the front driveshaft and lower control arm crossmember. Detach the driveaxles from the axleshaft flanges and suspend them with wire. Disconnect the shift motor and vent hose from the differential housing. Support the differential with a floor jack and remove the axle tube nuts and rear mounting bolts. Lower the jack and guide the differential out from under the vehicle. To install, reverse the removal steps and tighten all fasteners to the proper torque values, and refill the differential with the correct lubricant.
