    Q:
How do I remove and install a front stabilizer bar, stabilizer bar bushing and stabilizer bar link for Chevrolet Impala,Monte Carlo? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the sway bar kit, start by loosening the front wheel lug nuts and raising the front of the vehicle. Support it securely on jackstands and remove the front wheels. Then, remove the sway bar link nut above the sway bar by holding the link bolt at the control arm bracket and remove the links. Next, remove the bolts from the sway bar bushing brackets and pry off the brackets from the bushings if necessary. Remove the bushings from the bar, noting the direction of the split in the bushings. After that, remove the pinch-bolt from the intermediate shaft coupler to the steering gear input shaft. Support the rear part of the subframe with a floor jack and remove the two rear subframe mounting bolts. Slowly and carefully lower the subframe with the floor jack just enough to remove the sway bar kit, ensuring that the steering gear input shaft and shaft coupler separate without binding. Also, check for any wiring harnesses or hoses that may come under tension as the subframe is lowered and detach them if necessary. Carefully remove the kit and inspect the link and bar bushings for any damage. To install the sway bar kit, start by cleaning the areas on the bar where the bushings are located. Lubricate the inside and outside of the bushings with vegetable oil to simplify reassembly. Then, install the brackets and bolts, tightening them to the proper torque specifications. Slowly and carefully raise the subframe with the floor jack while guiding the steering gear input shaft into the shaft coupler. Install the pinch-bolt and tighten it to the proper torque specifications. Install the rear subframe mounting bolts and tighten them to the suitable torque specifications. Make sure to reattach any wire harnesses or brackets that were removed to lower the subframe. Install the links, tightening the link nuts to the proper torque specifications. Finally, install the wheels and lug nuts, then lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel lug nuts to the correct torque specifications.
