Saturn LS MAP Sensor

Saturn LS is equipped with the MAP Sensor, which is a significant device for measuring the positive air pressure, which enters into the intake manifold. This small device sends information to the engine control unit (ECU) so that it mods fuel injectors depending on the volume of air in the cylinders so that it can regulate the air-fuel ratio for the combustion process. In naturally aspirated engines, the MAP Sensor is mostly used in Saturn LS models, it can be installed jointly with the mass airflow sensor (MAF). The MAP Sensor is based on the speed-density principle and, thus, constantly delivers pressure data that affects fuel and ignition maps. While boost sensors gives negative pressures the MAP Sensor only deals with the absolute pressure hence it is not susceptible to giving negative pressures. This functionality is critical to the performance of an engine and the DIAG4 system in that it includes on board diagnostics, especially when testing the EGR valve.

Each OEM Saturn LS MAP Sensor we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Saturn LS MAP Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you replace the MAP sensor on Saturn LS?
A: For four-cylinder models, begin by turning the ignition key to OFF and disconnecting the MAP sensor electrical connector. Next, remove the accelerator/cruise control cable bracket nuts to slightly raise and push aside the bracket, as the MAP sensor retainer is part of it. Pull the MAP sensor up and out of its mounting hole in the intake manifold, ensuring to disconnect the EVAP canister purge solenoid hose for better visibility and access. After removing the MAP sensor, discard the old sealing grommet and install a new one before reinstalling the sensor, following the reverse order of removal. For V6 models, also start by turning the ignition key to OFF and disconnecting the MAP sensor electrical connector. Remove the MAP sensor retaining bolt and then the MAP sensor itself. Discard the old sealing grommet and use a new one for installation, ensuring the retaining bolt is tightened securely during reassembly.
