Next, take out the bolts which are holding the power steering pump and place it aside and the same case will apply to the bolts holding the alternator. Remove the drivebelt tensioner and bracket together with the bolts of the timing cover to the block of the car, then take off the cover. It is essential to mechanically remove all the old gasket material, from the sealing surfaces of the timing cover, engine block and oil pan using a scraper and degreaser. If required remove the front oil seal which is housed in the cover by slightly prying it out with the help of a large screwdriver without bending the cover. Place the new seal with the spring side towards the inside and tighten its place with seal installation tool or with a large socket and hammer or by using block of wood. Put a dab of ATV-type sealant to set a new gasket on the timing cover, and set the cover over the dowels on the block. Lastly, bolt and fix the oil pan and finish the assembly by following the above mentioned removal process in the reverse order.
