A: To remove the steering column, first park the vehicle with the wheels straight and disconnect the battery cable and airbag system. Remove the Steering Wheel and turn the ignition key to the LOCK position. Remove the steering column covers, knee bolster, and steel reinforcement. Detach the shift cable and all electrical connectors from the steering column. Mark the relationship of the intermediate shaft to the Steering Shaft and remove the fasteners securing the steering shaft to the upper intermediate shaft. Lower the column and pull it to the rear, separating the intermediate shaft from the steering shaft. To install the steering column, guide it into position, connect the intermediate shaft, and install the mounting nuts without tightening them yet. Install the fasteners for the steering shafts and tighten the nut to the torque specifications. Tighten the column mounting nuts to the torque specifications and adjust the shift cable.
