Chevrolet HHR Starter

The Starter of the Chevrolet HHR is crucial in converting electrical energy from the battery into mechanical energy to start the engine. This is done ion the help of an externally connected solenoid, which is in turn connected with the battery of the motor vehicle to trigger the starter motor. The rotating armature within the starter is furnished with field coils or permanent magnets and will therefore produce the required torque. The starter drive is designed to mesh with engine flywheel when the ignition pulse is applied and an over running clutch provided for release of engagement when the engine is started. Over the years, many types of starters have been used on HHR vehicles such as the gear reduction starters which not only improve the efficiency of the starting mechanism, but are also fitted with a reduction gear. Some late model OE starters are available for standard engines but high-performance starters may be necessary to meet the requirements of high compression motors. These enhancements in starter technology point to the fact that there is a continuous demand of better components in present generation automobiles.

Each OEM Chevrolet HHR Starter we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet HHR Starter Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a starter motor on a Chevrolet Cobalt,HHR and Saturn ION?
A: Turn the ignition key to OFF, then disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Raise the front of the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. On 2.0L Supercharged models only, drain the intercooler coolant system and remove the intercooler system electric water pump. Disconnect the Battery Cable (the larger cable) and the starter control cable (the smaller cable) from the starter solenoid terminals. Remove the starter mounting bolts and remove the starter. On 2007 and later models, you may have to remove the Secondary Air Injection pump to allow room for starter removal. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the starter mounting bolts. When the battery has been disconnected, the PCM must relearn its former driveability and performance characteristics.
