Chevrolet HHR Alternator

Chevrolet HHR Alternator is an essential component that has the responsibility of recharging the vehicle battery and supplying electrical components' power as a vehicle moves. Usually placed ahead of the engine, the alternator takes mechanical power from the engine and transforms it to electrical that is then supplied to parts such as the battery. The Alternator, with a rotating magnetic field and a stationary armature, uses the generated AC to charge the battery and supply electricity to the automobile's electrical circuit. The voltage output of the Alternator is maintained to cut-the risk in under charge or over charge to charge the battery as required. In situations where the standard stock Alternator cannot provide sufficient power to accommodate the new parts, high-output Alternator might be needed depending of customization of the car and new electronics or sound systems. These high-powered Alternators intend to afford a higher amount of amperage which can smoothly transform from one state to another without causing any harm.

Each OEM Chevrolet HHR Alternator we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Chevrolet HHR Alternator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an alternator on a Chevrolet Cobalt,HHR and Saturn ION?
A: Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. On models where it visibly prevents access to the alternator, remove the air filter housing and intake tube. Loosen the right-front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands, then remove the right-front wheel. Remove the right-front fenderwell splash shielding. Remove the accessory drivebelt. On 2007 and earlier 2.0L models, remove the supercharger for access to the alternator. Unscrew the terminal nut(s) and disconnect the electrical connections from the alternator, noting the correct terminal locations for installation. If you cannot easily access the electrical connections at this time, wait until the alternator has been unbolted and repositioned, then disconnect the electrical connections. If equipped, unbolt and remove the engine hoist eyelet bracket located above the alternator. On HHR models, remove the radiator upper support brackets to allow the radiator/condenser assembly to be tilted slightly forward for additional clearance. Remove the 3 alternator mounting bolts, then carefully guide it out of the top of the engine compartment. If the alternator still doesn't have enough room for removal, it may be necessary to unbolt and disconnect the windshield washer reservoir and fluid lines/washer pump electrical connector (HHR models), then, while supporting the engine using a floor jack and block of wood placed evenly under the engine oil pan, remove the right-side engine mount. Raise or lower the engine slightly to allow for better clearance to remove the alternator. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the alternator mounting bolts, and all other fasteners, where mentioned. Whenever the battery has been disconnected, the PCM must relearn its former drivability and performance characteristics.
