Q: How to remove and install the charge air cooler, air cooler outlet pipe, and air cooler inlet pipe in a Chevrolet Cruze?
A: Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the front bumper cover. For the air cooler inlet pipe, pull the pipe clamp ends apart, then detach the pipe from the intercooler. Loosen the clamp from the inlet pipe at the Turbocharger and disconnect the pipe. Remove the pipe. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the air cooler outlet pipe, disconnect the electrical connector from the intake air pressure and temperature sensor. On 2016 and later models, remove the oil filler cap and engine cover fasteners. Lift the engine cover and valve cover insulator up and off of the valve cover, then reinstall the oil filler cap. It may be necessary to remove the cover and insulator separately. On 2016 and later models, disconnect the brake booster vacuum pipe. Disconnect and cap the coolant expansion tank return hose. Loosen the air cooler outlet pipe clamp at the Throttle Body. Pull the air cooler outlet pipe clamp ends apart, then detach the pipe from the intercooler. Remove the air cooler outlet pipe. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the intercooler, disconnect the air cooler inlet pipe from the intercooler. Disconnect the air cooler outlet pipe from the intercooler. On 2016 and later models, remove the cooling fan and shroud assembly, then disconnect the turbocharger pressure sensor electrical connector. On 2015 and earlier models, disengage the clips holding the automatic transaxle cooler lines and cooler between the radiator and air conditioning condenser. Lift the cooler up and out of way, then secure it in this position. On 2015 and earlier models, lift the air conditioning condenser up to disengage it from intercooler, then move it away from the cooler and secure it out of the way. Disengage the clips holding the intercooler to the radiator. On 2015 and earlier models, lift the cooler up and away from the radiator. On 2016 and later models, pull the intercooler back and lower the intercooler down and out from under the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal.
