A: To remove the fuel tank, start by relieving fuel tank pressure by removing the fuel tank filler cap and disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Then, relieve the fuel system pressure and drain the fuel tank by siphoning or using a hand pump. Raise the rear of the vehicle and support it on jackstands. For the left tank, remove both mufflers and the left rear wheel. Proceed to remove the left rear inner fender panel and the driveshaft. Disconnect the electrical connector and fuel supply line quick-connect fittings from the Fuel Pump module. Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the fuel filler neck hose and EVAP system breather hose from the tank. Disconnect the fuel pump module electrical connectors and fuel feed lines. Lower the fuel tank about one inch by loosening the fuel tank strap/shield. Disengage the fuel tank crossover tube connector retainer and remove the crossover tube. Disconnect the EVAP hose connector fitting at the left fuel tank and remove the tank by loosening the strap/shield. For the right tank, remove the driveshaft and the EVAP canister access cover to disconnect the EVAP canister hoses. Disconnect the electrical connector and fuel supply line quick-connect fittings from the fuel pump module and then the fuel pump module electrical connectors and fuel feed lines. Disconnect the crossover tube clamp above the transmission, disengage the fuel tank crossover tube connector retainer, remove the crossover tube, and disconnect the EVAP hose connector fitting at the right fuel tank. Remove the fuel tank strap/shield and take the tank out. To install, follow the reverse of the removal process, ensuring proper tightening of the fuel tank.
