Q: How do you remove the turn signal switch on Cadillac DeVille and DTS?
A: First, remove the turn signal switch on early models by disconnecting the negative battery terminal and disabling the airbag system. Then detach the steering wheel and airbag clock spring. Use a lock plate removal tool to push down the lock plate and remove the retaining ring. Remove the hazard warning knob, turn signal cancel cam, spring, and actuating arm. Next, unscrew mounting screws for the turn signal switch and knee bolster panel below the steering column. Disconnect the turn signal switch electrical connector and remove the wiring protector. Attach a length of mechanic's wire to the electrical connector then pull on the wiring harness through the steering column to remove the switch assembly. To install a new switch, attach mechanic's wire to the electrical connector and slowly pull the wiring harness through the steering column. Position the turn signal switch on the column and put back mounting screws, lever actuating arm, and hazard knob. Reconnect the switch electrical connector and reinstall the wiring protector. Install spring, cancel cam, lock plate, airbag clock spring, wave washer, airbag clock spring retaining snap-ring at lastly reinstalling retainer ring following wave washer following airbag clock spring following lock plate following cancel cam following spring as well as following airbag clock spring; finally, reinstall the steering wheel up to enabling the airbag system.
