Buick Enclave Rack And Pinion

The Rack And Pinion in Buick Enclave is a significant part of the steering system that converts the rotational movement to the left and right from the steering wheel into lateral movement forth and rearward of the front wheels. This mechanism is known as rack and pinion and comprised of gears which housed in a metal tube bolted to the side of the chassis with the steering column shaft being connected to the rack or pinion gear. In today's production, most of the Enclave cars are fitted with power-assisted rack and pinion steering whereby the rack movement causes the pressure fluid to move it sideways within the tube turning the front wheels. Nevertheless, problems like leakage from worn out seals or noisy and worn out gears are known to cause resistance while steering, squeaking or erratic steering while in motion. In such cases stern rack and pinion assembly may have to be replaced in order to maintain correct steering receptiveness.

Each OEM Buick Enclave Rack And Pinion we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Buick Enclave Rack And Pinion Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove the steering gear?
A: To remove the rack and pinion, start by parking the vehicle with the front wheels straight and locking the steering column. Remove as much power steering fluid as possible using a syringe or turkey baster. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and loosen the wheel lug nuts. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it on jackstands, then remove the front wheels. Detach the tie-rod ends from the Steering Knuckles and disconnect the stabilizer bar links. Disconnect the intermediate shaft from the rack and pinion and remove the rear driveshaft on all-wheel-drive models. Remove the subframe brace, rear-bank catalytic converter, and heat shield protecting the rack and pinion. Support the rear of the subframe with floor jacks and remove the left and right subframe reinforcement brackets. Loosen the subframe front reinforcement bolts and front subframe mounting bolts, as well as the subframe rear mounting bolts. Lower the subframe to gain clearance for rack and pinion removal. Remove the fluid lines, rack and pinion nuts and bolts from the left side, and rack and pinion mounting bolts from the right side. Finally, maneuver the rack and pinion out from the left side of the vehicle. For installation, use new subframe mounting bolts and raise the subframe with floor jacks before tightening the bolts. Tighten the rack and pinion mounting bolts to the proper torque specifications and align the match marks when connecting the steering column shaft to the rack and pinion input shaft. Fill the power steering reservoir with the recommended fluid and bleed the power steering system. Lastly, have the front-end alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.
