    To remove the thermostat, begin by disconnecting the negative battery cable. Remove the air cleaner for better working access. Drain the coolant into a suitable container for disposal. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing and the smaller by-pass hose which leads to the front cover. Remove the thermostat housing bolts and the housing from the engine.
