    Q:
How to remove and replace a power steering pump on L4 engine? Posted by Customer
    A:
Raise the front of the car and support it with jackstands. Remove the radiator hose clamp bolt. Disconnect the pressure hose from its fitting on the rear of the pump. Remove the clamp that secures the flexible return hose to its rigid steel line and disconnect the hose from the line. Loosen the pump's attaching bolts and nuts, move the pump toward the engine and remove the belt from the pulley. Remove the bolt and spacer used in the upper rear mounting location of the pump that holds the pump to the bracket. Remove the 3 bolts that hold the left pump bracket to the engine block. Remove the pump and left pump bracket. Remove the pump from the pump bracket. Remove the 3 bolts that secure the right pump bracket to the pump. If the power steering pump needs replacing, a rebuilt unit can be obtained and is less expensive than a new pump. Install the pump by reversing the removal procedure. Adjust the belt tension. Bleed the power steering system.
