    Q:
How to remove and install the Crankshaft Pulley in 2.5L four cylinder engine on Pontiac Grand Prix? Posted by Customer
    A:
Initial steps when trying to remove the part includes, disconnecting the battery cable starting with the negative terminal of the battery and turning off the Theftlock audio system's lock out for this part if installed. However, further, the torque strut bolt has to be extracted from the cylinder head bracket and finally extract the drivebelt. With the parking brake set in a prepared vehicle with an automatic transmission put the shifter in park, then follow the subsequent steps: raise the front part of the vehicle and support it on the stands, and then remove the right front wheel and fender inner splash shield. Loosen the right side control arm from the steering knuckle. If necessary, to prosecute the lifting of the engine in a proper and safe manner, place the floor jack with the assistance of a wood block to avoid scratching the oil pan of the car. If required, unbolt and take out the two right side frame attaching bolts, but if possible, merely loosen the bolts and nuts of the left side frame member. Reduce the engine slightly if necessary. The crankshaft hub bolt should be loosened by inserting a breaker bar and a socket into the crank, and in the case where the bolt is very tight, the bell housing cover should be removed and instead of a bar a large screw driver should be used to prevent the crankshaft from turning. Next, unscrew the pulley bolts you must then remove the crankshaft pulley from the crankshaft hub. By applying the use of a puller, the crankshaft hub can be easily withdrawn from the crankshaft. For assembling, put a coat of multi purpose grease on the seal contact surface of the hub, after that place the hub in position of the crankshaft and slid it up to the crankshaft till it fits against the crankshaft gear with the slot in the hub facing the Woodruff key in the crankshaft. Screw in and snug up to the recommended torque value the bolt provided to connect the pulley with the cranskhaft, thereafter follow the remaining steps in the reverse method of removal.
