    Q:
How to replace the air filter and PCV filter in a Chevrolet Beretta? Posted by Customer
    A:
At given intervals, new air filters and PCV filters (where applicable) should be used. The two filters should be checked regularly. MF/fuel injection system utilized on the V6 and 2.3 liter Quad-4 engines does not have separate PCV filter. The engine air cleaner provides filtered air to the PCV system. The engine front has an air cleaner housing that contains the air filter near the battery. Remove wing nut, lift cover and spark arrestor off, then lift out filter (Remove wing nut, pull off spark arrestor and take out the filter element from housing for 2.8 liter V6 engines). For 1992 and later 2.2L four-cylinder engine and the 3.1 liter V6 engine remove bolts to take off upper air cleaner housing then lift out the filter element. On the left (driver's) side of the engine compartment is where the air cleaner housing for a 2.3 liter four-cylinder (Quad-4) engine is located. Loosen wing nut, remove top cover and withdraw filter (Loosen wing nut; remove top cover; draw out filter). Release clips, lift up the air cleaner housing cover and slide out filter element if it is soiled on Throttle Body Injection (TBI) models. An earlier model with a 2.2 liter four-cylinder engine has its air filter element just at the top of the throttle body. Unscrew nuts or bolts from top of filter housing, remove cover and take out filter element (Unfasten nuts or bolts on top of cover; open it; pull off element). Be careful not to drop anything down into throttle body or air cleaner assembly while you still have your hands on its cover or casing Remove old towel from inside of cleaner housing (Wipe inside of air cleaner housing with clean rag). Aside from TBI models which have a PCV filter, place the new filter in the air cleaner housing. Ensure that it fits securely at the bottom of the housing. Put on top plate or cover (Fasten top plate or cover). The PCV filter is often found in a holder on the side of the filter housing and can be taken out by separating tubing and removing a clip therefrom. Extract PCV filter from holder. New PCV filter should be fitted into a holder and fixed onto an air cleaner housing. Insert air filter (Put in air filter).

When replacing the air filter, especially when the filter housing cover is off, be careful not to drop anything down into the throttle body or air cleaner assembly. It's essential to maintain a clean and debris-free environment during the replacement process.
