Q: How to replace the air filter in a Pontiac Grand Prix?
A: The air filter should be changed out for a replacement between times of requirement and should be examined during intervals. The air filter is located inside the air cleaner housing at the front of the engine, near the battery for 2.5 liter four-cylinder and 2.8 liter V6 engines. It can be taken off by first removing the wingnut, lifting off the cover and spark arrestor (if equipped), and then lifting the filter out. For 3.1 liter V6 turbocharged models, release the clips, remove PCV breather from valve cover, lift off the air cleaner housing, and then take out filter from housing. For non-turbocharged models, remove bolts, lift upper air cleaner housing off, and lift filter element out. The air cleaner housing is found on the left (driver's) side of the engine compartment for 3.4 liter V6, 3800 V6, 3100 V6, and 2.3 liter four-cylinder (Quad-4) engines. Loosen or remove nuts or retainer clips and lift top cover off to withdraw filter from it. While keeping its housing uncovered do not drop anything down into Throttle Body or air cleaner assembly area where they may go down further afield with your rag! Wipe clean rag inside of air cleaner housing with a fresh one for if you don't want dirty things to get into your clean things that you want to keep spotless after cleaning them while it is off so that they are as clean as possible before reinstalling new ones which might still become dirty again in future after some time passes like many years later even though you only just finished washing them right now today before putting them back into place inside their case boxes once again along with all other objects that belong together including any parts which were removed like extra filters during their disassembly process when necessary without leaving any unwanted items behind such as loose screws or forgotten nuts like those which were used as replacements instead when one got lost somewhere along the way causing problems later on. Place the new filter in the air cleaner housing, making sure it seats properly in the bottom of the housing. Put back top plate or cover. Some 2.5L models have a PCV filter, typically located in a holder on the side of the filter housing. You can remove it by disconnecting hose and removing clip. Remove PCV filter from holder. Attach pcv filter to air cleaner housing then put it into holder. Finally, install the air filter.
