    Q:
How to remove and install a blower motor and heater core in a Chevrolet Caprice? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the battery ground cable, then remove all wiring, hoses, etc. to the right-hand fender skirt. On 1977 and later models, the assembly is accessible from under the hood. Simply disconnect the blower lead wire at the motor and remove the blower-to-case attaching screws. Raise the vehicle. Remove all fender skirt attaching bolts except those fastened to the radiator support. Pull outwards, then down on the fender skirt and place a 2 x 4 inch wooden block between the skirt and fender. Remove the blower wheel retaining nut and separate the wheel from the blower. Pass the blower through the fender skirt opening. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, but ensure that the blower wheel is fitted with the open end away from the motor. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Drain the radiator. Disconnect the heater hoses at the core connections. Temporarily plug the core tubes to prevent coolant spillage. Remove the nuts from the heater distributor studs on the engine side of the dash panel (firewall). Remove the glovebox and door assembly. Using a 1-inch drill, drill out the lower right-hand distributor stud from beneath the dash. Pull the distributor assembly from the dash panel mounting, taking care not to kink the bowden cables. When clearance is obtained, disconnect the bowden cables and resistor wires, and remove the distributor assembly from the vehicle. Remove the core assembly from the distributor assembly. When installing, reverse the removal procedure, ensuring that the hose from the water pump goes to the top heater core pipe. Ensure that the case sealer is intact before fitting the core; if necessary, fit a new sealer. Replace the drilled-out stud with a new screw and pal (stamped) nut. After filling the cooling system, run the engine and check for coolant leaks. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Remove the ashtray assembly. Remove the six steering column trim panel screws and lower the panel and control as an assembly. Disconnect all cables and wires at the control head. Remove control head attaching screws and remove control head. Installation is a reversal of removal; however, make sure of cable operation before completing assembly.

    Q:
How do you remove the front heater assembly from the 1996 Chevrolet K1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the front heater assembly, follow these steps: Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Disconnect the blower wiring and hose. Remove the glove box and right side kick panel if necessary. On older models, disconnect the ECM wiring connectors and remove the bolt from the right side of the instrument panel. Pull out the corner of the instrument panel for clearance. Remove the blower mounting screws and withdraw the motor and fan. On 1988-1991 models, the fan can be removed from the motor shaft after unscrewing the nut. For 1992 and later models, remove the plastic tip at the end of the motor shaft and use a puller or press to remove the fan from the motor shaft. When reinstalling the fan, leave a clearance of 0.22 inch between the fan and the motor mount plate.
