    Q:
What is the location and function of the turn signal flasher and hazard flasher in a Chevrolet Blazer,S10,GMC Jimmy and Sonoma? Posted by Customer
    A:
The flasher for the turn signals is a small canister-shaped unit positioned under the dash beneath the knee bolster or behind the glove compartment on vehicles made in 1999 and after. It sits next to a huge wiring splice and is held by plastic strap. When it works, there should be an audible click sound accompanying its operations. Where one side's turn signals fail without that characteristic clicking noise of the flasher, then a busted signal bulb exists. In case both stop lights stay on without blinking, this could be due to a blown fuse, a faulty flasher unit, a broken switch or loose or open connections. To replace flasher relay remove under-dash panel or knee bolster so as to unplug it from its socket. A new one must match the old in all regards. The hazard warning lamp assembly used for flashing all four turn signal lamps at once upon switching it on is situated inside instrument panel behind knee bolster or behind glove compartment on 1999 and later models too. It also abuts against large wire clamp and is held in place with plastic band. Checking procedure for hazard warning light unit resembles that of turn indicator unit described above. To replace it you will need to take off under-dash panel or knee bolster cover in order to unplug the flasher itself. The replacement lamp has to be exactly similar to the one being replaced.

Afterwards, remove the top two Torx screws securing a multi-function switch to a steering column. After that unclip the wire ties that secure it in place on other wires of the steering column. At the bottom of the steering column firewall bulkhead remove bolt holding large connections. Separate two multi-function switch connectors from large bulkhead connector. Remember that Multi-Function Switch and its harness should be replaced together as one unit. To install new switch just reverse removal process steps.
