    Q:
How do you remove and install the oil pump on Chevrolet Cruze? Posted by Customer
    A:
The following procedures have to be done in order to pull out the oil pump, empt rivers the engine oil and pull the drive belt off. Spin the right-front wheel and extrapolate its lug nuts, lift the front part of your car, and put it on jackstands before detaching the right front wheel. For the 2015 and earlier 1.4L engine, remove the timing chain cover, then turn the eight sain oil pump cover screws counterclockwise while covering the drilled holes with a finger to ease the oil flow until they are all out and the cover is removed. Screw the pump slide with your screwdriver thinning the compression on it then professionally remove the spring and the spring pin. On the 2016 and later 1.4L engine the upper oil pan, electrical connector from the oil pump flow control solenoid must be disconnected, sprocket must be marked before to be remounted, lastly there are four bolts and retainer associated with the oil pump that have to be removed and maintainers must replace the retainers after. With help, get on the oil pump chain tensioner ,then tilt the rear of the oil pumps downwards and thereafter, raise the oil pump drive gear of the timing chain. Remove and replace two O-ring type oil pump gaskets, and to release the oil pump control solenoid, pull the retaining clip and twist to unlock the solenoid valve. For the 1.8L engine, if necessary remove the engine coolant, take off the exhaust manifold and remove the air conditioning compressor lines but leaving the bulk of the compressor in place. Take off the alternator, the sprockets for the camshaft actuator, timing belt rear cover and the oil pan. Unscrew the hose connected to the water pump, slide the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet pipe, and pull it towards the oil cooler housing. Last but not least, take out the bolts of oil pump/front cover and dispose the gaskets. To inspect the 2015 or earlier 1.4L engine, follow this process, disassemble the oil pump, clean the components, check for damage or wear of the pump and its slide pins should fit appropriately. In case of the 2016 and later 1.4L engine if there is a concern with the pump, it needs to be replaced. To rotate the parts, look for marks on the rotors for the 1.8L; clean the parts; and finally check for signs of torque or damage, as well as the correct spacer-to-cover gap. If acceptable, well rotate the rotors in clean engine oil and make sure they areinstalled properly. For installation of the 2015 and earlier 1.4L engine, the oil pump slide or outer part, the inside vane ring, vane rotor, an oil pump vanes must be properly positioned. Put in the outer vane ring, fit slide seals and springs, insert the slide spring pin and oil pump slide spring. Be careful with the timing chain cover edges during installment and apply the engine oil to the parts and then, tighten the oil pump cover firmly. Maximum for a crank and insert the crankshaft pulley in its proper place then install the timing chain cover. The rest of the installation proceeds in the inverse fashion of removal. For the 2016 and later 1.4L engine, new oil pump O-ring gaskets, release the chain tensioner, oil pump drive gear aligned, and finally the mounting bolts tightened. Oil pump flow control solenoid must be installed and the electrical connector must be connected. The rest of the process is the complete opposite of the dismantling - step by step. For the 1.8L engine, ensure that is placed right then apply petroleum jelly in the recesses, the oil pump cover together with screws should be put properly in place. Inserting a new gasket after its removal and tightening the bolts evenly reinstall the component. Then pour in new oil, fit a new oil filter, add new coolant if necessary, start the engine, check for any leaks and ensure you get the right pressure and if you see low pressure don't continue to operate to avoid straining your engine.
