The air conditioning system must be discharged by a dealer service department or an automotive air conditioning shop before proceeding. Both headlight housings must be removed. The upper radiator mounting brackets should be removed and the radiator should be secured to the radiator support by tying a rope through the tabs on the radiator. The front of the vehicle should be raised and supported securely on jackstands. The fasteners for the engine splash shield and the air deflectors on each side should be removed, followed by the right fender splash shield. The refrigerant lines from the condenser should be disconnected and all open lines and fittings should be plugged to prevent contamination of the air conditioning system. The lower radiator mounting brackets and the two mounting bolts that fasten the condenser to the radiator should be removed. The radiator should be slid up slightly while moving the condenser down to release it from the additional retaining tabs and clips. The condenser should be lowered from the engine compartment and if the same condenser is going to be reinstalled, the openings should be plugged and it should be stored upright. If a new condenser is going to be installed, 1 ounce of refrigerant oil of the correct type should be poured into it prior to installation. Before reconnecting the refrigerant lines to the condenser, new sealing washers should be used and the condenser line fitting fastener should be tightened. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal. The system should be evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
