    Remove the parking brake cable from the brake by following the procedure described in paragraphs 1 through 7. Remove the cable casing from the rear axle. Unhook the cable from the connector on the rear axle that connects it to the right rear cable. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

    Support the rear of the car on jackstands and remove the wheel and brake drum. With a screwdriver inserted between the brakeshoe and the top part of the brake adjuster bracket, push the bracket to the front and release the top adjuster bracket rod. Remove the rear hold-down spring and remove the actuator lever and lever return spring. Remove the adjuster screw spring. Remove the top rear brake shoe return spring. Unhook the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever. Compress the locking spring tabs securing the parking brake cable to the backing plate and withdraw the cable. Mark the location of the adjusting nut so the parking brake adjustment will not be lost, then remove the adjusting nut that.secures the equalizer to its retaining bolt and remove the bolt. Compress the locking spring tabs of the cable casing and remove the cable from the guide bracket. Unhook the cable from the connector on the rear axle, that connects it to the left rear cable. Remove the cable casing from the rear axle. Installation Is the reverse of the removal procedure. When the operation is complete check that the parking brake adjustment is correct, and adjust If necessary.
