    Q:
How do you remove and reinstall Dimmer Switch,Headlight Switch,Ignition Switch,Turn Signal Switch and Wiper Switch in a Chevrolet C1500 and K1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
In 1988 through 1994 models, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable, and for models with a Delco Loc II anti-theft audio system, ensure the lockout feature is off. Remove the instrument cluster trim panel retaining screws, disconnect electrical connectors behind the light switch, and remove the panel. Take out the light switch retaining screws and lift the switch from the trim panel. To reinstall, ensure the grounding ring is in place. For the headlight dimmer switch, remove the steering column support bracket bolts and nuts, lower the steering column, disconnect the dimmer switch electrical connector, and remove the retaining bolts. In the case of the park/neutral switch/back-up light switch for automatic transmission. For the windshield wiper/washer switch, remove the steering wheel, compress the locking plate, remove the clip retaining it to the steering column, and proceed with the disassembly steps. Disconnect the handle from the windshield wiper switch and drive the pin through the switch housing to remove it. Reinstallation is the reverse of removal. For the ignition switch, disconnect the negative battery cable, place the ignition switch in the Lock position, and lower the steering column. Remove the ignition switch retaining screws, lift the switch out, and reconnect the actuating rod before reinstalling it. To remove the Turn Signal Switch and key lock cylinder. In 1995 and later models, start by removing the steering wheel and the steering column cover. Remove the Torx-head bolt, unplug the electrical connector, and lift off the Turn Signal Switch. Installation is the reverse of removal. If needed, center the airbag coil by removing it, turning it over, depressing the spring lock, rotating the hub as instructed, and releasing the spring lock. Finally, install the wave washer and the airbag coil, ensuring the lower wiring harness is taut to prevent damage when turning the steering wheel.

    Q:
How to replace a dimmer switch on a steering column for Buick Skylark,Oldsmobile Omega and Pontiac Phoenix? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the steering column trim cover from the underside of the dash. Disconnect the turn signal switch lead and windshield wiper switch lead extending from the steering column from the wiring harness. Disconnect the back-up light switch lead from its switch. Disconnect the shift indicator cable by prying the clip from the shift bowl. Remove the 3 bolts and 1 nut that secure the steering column to its support and lower the column. Be careful not to damage the shift cable or remaining electrical harnesses. Disconnect the wiring lead from the dimmer switch. To remove the dimmer switch, remove the nut from the forward end of the dimmer switch bracket and the screw from the rear end that secures the switch to the column. Place the new dimmer switch in position, taking care to line it up with the actuator rod. Pull the turn signal/dimmer lever forward and push the dimmer switch toward the steering wheel until it clicks. Then back it off about 3/16-in (5 mm) to allow for play and tighten it down. Connect the wiring lead to the dimmer switch. Complete the installation by reversing the removal procedure described in paragraphs 1 through 6. Note: When reattaching the shift indicator cable clip to the shift bowl, place the shift lever in the 'Neutral' position, then position the clip on the edge of the bowl so that the shift indicator pointer is pointing to the 'N'. Push the clip onto the bowl to secure it.
