How to remove and install an intake manifold in 2.0L/2.2L four cylinder overhead valve engine? Posted by Customer
    A:
Relieve the fuel pressure, then disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. Caution: On models equipped with the Delco Loc II audio system, make sure the lockout feature is turned off before performing any procedure that requires disconnecting the battery. Remove the TBI cover/air cleaner assembly. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Drain the coolant. Label and disconnect any wires and vacuum hoses that will interfere with manifold removal. Remove the throttle and TV cables and brackets. Remove the TBI assembly and fuel lines. Remove the power steering pump (if equipped) and tie it aside in an upright position. Remove the heater hose and coolant line retaining nut near the bottom of the intake manifold. Remove the mounting nuts from the intake manifold. Separate the intake manifold and gasket from the engine. Scrape all traces of gasket material off the intake manifold and head gasket mating surfaces. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure to use a new gasket. Tighten the nuts/bolts in the proper sequence. Add coolant, run the engine, and check for leaks and proper operation.
