To adjust the bearings, raise the vehicle, remove the wheel cover and dust cap, remove the cotter pin and spindle nut, tighten the nut as the wheel spins, back off the nut, and insert the cotter pin.

The first step is to raise the rear of the car and support it on jackstands.

First, slacken off the hub nut. Then, jack up the front of your car and brace it with jackstands. In addition, take out the disc brake caliper from the front wheel with no need to detach the brake line. Continue to remove also the brake rotor and hub nut. Use clean parts solvent to remove all traces of the old grease from the bearings, hub, and spindle. You can use a small brush, but make sure no bristles embed themselves inside the bearing rollers. Allow the parts to air dry.

When the vehicle is securely supported on jack stands, the wheel should be spun to check for noise, rolling resistance or free play.

The numbers on the bearing should be visible from the outer end of the casing.

After raising the car, the next step is to remove the wheel and brake drum.

Proceed to remove the hub dust cup, cotter pin, spindle nut, and washer.

After removing the bolts, the hub and bearing assembly should be removed.
