    Q:
How do you replace the front hub and wheel bearing assembly on Pontiac Grand Prix? Posted by Customer
    A:
The front hub and wheel bearing assembly is an evolution of the worldview in that it is sealed-for-life and therefore can only be replaced in its entirety. To remove it, simply turn the driveaxle nut counterclockwise by one full turn; the wheel lugs should be loosened, the front part of the vehicle should be raised and supported on jack stands. In order to avoid the vehicle running a parking brake should be engaged and rear wheels should be blocked. Take off the wheel, unscrew the nuts of the connection between the stabilizer bar and the control arm, if it is present, and then unbolt the caliper and its bracket from the steering knuckle and pull aside with a piece of wire. If you have ABS model, there is a bolt that should be unbolted and the sensor should be shifted aside. Wrench the disc off from the hub, unbolt the driveaxle nut and get rid of the hub/bearing bolts. To remove the hub/bearing assembly from the driveaxle, there is the use of a puller to loosen it from the splines on the driveaxle as well as the knuckle as needed, as well as tapping it out You need to wrap a rag around the end of the driveaxle for protection of the splines. To install, use a multi-purpose grease on the driveaxle spline, align the hub/bearing over the end of the driveaxle, push it into position and secure with the bolts, tighten to the recommended torque. Secure the driveaxle hub nut and the brake disc and then the caliper and ABS sensor if necessary. Last, bolt the wheel, drop the car and finally round up the lug nuts to the right torque and as a confirmation make sure the driveaxle hub nut is also rounded up to the right spec.
