Begin by removing the antenna cable from the radio under the dashboard and replace it. Then unscrew the fender to take off the antenna, which is still attached with its wire, from the car. Remove the escutcheon nut that retains the antenna cable assembly to the fender. Disconnect the electrical leads, then remove the bolts that hold the antenna assembly to the bracket and take out the assembly. For installation, reverse the removal steps, ensuring the mast is fully retracted and the lower bracket is secured by the fender skirt retaining screw.

Disconnect the negative battery cable, ensuring that on models with the Theftlock audio system, the lockout feature is disabled before any procedure that requires battery disconnection. For the standard antenna, use a small wrench to unscrew it from the base and replace it with a new one; to remove the base, utilize snap-ring pliers to take off the base retaining nut. For the power antenna, open the trunk and take off the trim panel, then unscrew the escutcheon from the fender. Unplug the electrical connector, disconnect the ground and relay cables, drain tube, and antenna lead, and then remove the antenna and motor assembly. Installation follows the reverse order of removal.

The antenna on the right front fender is a rigid one and cannot be adjusted either up or downwards. If it gets slightly bent, by use of hand, it can be straightened but if it is heavily bent, it means that it needs replacement. To retract the antenna mast, simply unscrew the antenna for the removal of the mast you need to loosen the retaining nut. With reference to figure 4, normally after the mast has been dismantled, one can un-bolt the antenna body and cable assembly from the fender.

Remove the lower rocker panel retaining screws.

Raise and support the car to remove the inner fender clips and screws, pull back the inner fender strip and remove the escutcheon nut, and inspect the grommet in the fender wheel for cracks or distortion of any kind.

Simply reverse the removal procedure.

Disconnect the quick disconnect to the antenna coaxial cable, remove the passenger side tail lamp assembly, and disconnect the antenna ground lead from the body harness.

Next, remove the cap nut and lift off the upper adapter and gasket.

Reverse the removal procedure.

After removing the fender skirt, remove the escutcheon nut at the fender and disconnect the electrical leads.
