    Q:
How do you remove the oil level tube and reinstall the oil pan in six cylinder engine on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, to undo the oil level tube, turn anticlockwise the top two bolts of air conditioning compressor a little, and the last step, turn the front wheel lug nuts. Lay the car down and make sure it is stable then remove the front wheels like this: Then, uninstall the under vehicle splash shield, the steering gear cross members and so on. For 4WD models the driveaxles and the intermediate shaft have to be detached and the front driveshaft has to be disconnected from the differential companion flange. Remove the engine oil and detach the transmission cooler lines from a clip on a side of the engine. On 4WD models remove the differential from the oil pan and fasten it to the frame with wire or rope of high tensile strength. If equipped, delete the access plugs used to cover the fasteners at the rear part of the oil pan and then delete the oil pan to transmission bell housing bolts and the remaining bolts used to hold the oil pan to the engine block. Take two oil pan bolts and screw them into the jackscrew holes in the oil pan and tighten until you get the pan off the block, wash the pan with solvent. Feel the oil pan for sharp edges in the sealing areas and look for threads on the oil drain hole. For installation, apply a 3/16-inch bead of RTV sealant to the engine block at the pan sealing area and the pan should be installed within ten minutes of sealant application. Position the oil pan on the block, thread the bolts, while engaging the pan to transmission bell housing bolts, as well as the oil pan to engine block bolts until all tightened to the torque specifications. Last, replace the engine oil filter and refill the crankcase with the right kind and amount of oil to its requirement.
