    Q:
How do you remove and install front hub and bearing assembly on a Buick Skylark,Oldsmobile Omega and Pontiac Phoenix? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, slacken off the hub nut. Then, jack up the front of your car and brace it with jackstands. In addition, take out the disc brake caliper from the front wheel with no need to detach the brake line. Continue to remove also the brake rotor and hub nut. After that, remove attaching bolts for a hub and bearing assembly. You should label these if you are going to use an old assembly so as to put them in the holes where they came from for fixing. The GM special tool or alternate puller can be used in taking off this hub and bearing assembly from drive axle. Try spinning it by your finger to feel if there is any roughness or noise on bearing. Grime or nicks may cause disorder on the bearing mating surfaces or steering knuckle bore too; therefore, it is essential to inspect those surfaces as well during this process. When replacing a worn-out bearing of this kind, one has no other alternative than replacing the complete hub plus its bearing system together as one unit because this machine comes hermetically sealed . In case someone decides to replace his/her damaged hub and bearing assembly, he/she must ensure that there is a new seal for steering knuckle fitted into him/her before beginning installation process on this part of vehicle's assembly. This occurs when you have greased up both these parts then used enough force through tapping hence driving home a right size socket by means of hammer which finally seats that seal completely into its housing within steering knuckle; after it has been done then you will ready to proceed onto next step.Install axleshaft into place while securing it with a hub plus its bearing system. To return those hubs back into appropriate positions again torque down their retaining nuts until all these parts fall down in their places.Install shield and hub assembly attaching bolts and then use torque wrench on them. Finally, fit rotor onto flange of your car's wheels. Now fix caliper and wheels, then lower vehicle to ground. In the end, tighten hub nut according to its specs.
