Q: How to use the accelerate cable specific to Saturn LS and LS1?
A: The following procedure is specific to four-cylinder models. For V6 models, the throttle cable is not used. To begin, ensure that the ignition key is turned off. Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle cam by rotating the cam counterclockwise, aligning the cable with the slot in the cam, and pulling the cable end plug out of its socket. Next, disengage the throttle cable from the cable bracket by removing the retainer and pulling the cable out of its slot. Trace the cable back to the firewall and disengage it from any clips or cable guides by prying open the hinged cable clamps and removing the cable. Inside the passenger compartment, disengage the lower end of the throttle cable from the accelerator pedal by pushing the upper end of the arm forward slightly and sliding the cable out of the slot. Detach the cable grommet from the firewall by pulling it out. Pull the cable through the firewall and remove it. To reinstall, follow the reverse of the removal steps. Finally, have an assistant depress and release the accelerator pedal while verifying that the throttle valve moves smoothly and easily from fully closed to fully open and back again.
