Saturn LS1 Throttle Body

Saturn LS1 vehicle's Throttle Body is a component that releases requisite air into the engine in relation to the accelerator it receives from the driver. Located between the air filter box and intake manifold, this has a butterfly valve which opens and closes to control the quantity of air intake. On fuel-injected engines the throttle body is tied to the gas pedal in some manner mechanically or with wires, the computer relying on sensors to deliver the right fuel mixture. Throttle bodies can be mechanical or the new trend being considered electronic some being drive by wire which enriches throttle and works hand in hand with other safety measures. In this type of engines, a throttle body has replaced the carburetor while sport-oriented vehicles use multiple or independent throttle bodies in order to achieve better response and airflow.

Each OEM Saturn LS1 Throttle Body we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Saturn LS1 Throttle Body Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to verify and clean the throttle linkage and throttle body?
A: To ensure smooth operation of the throttle linkage, remove the air intake duct from the throttle body and inspect the bore for carbon and residue build-up. If dirty, clean it with solvent or carburetor cleaner, being cautious not to clean the Throttle Position (TP) sensor or Idle Air Control (IAC) motor with solvent or use a metal brush on the throttle body bore. Instead, wipe it with a clean shop rag and solvent. For four-cylinder models, disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the air intake duct. Disconnect electrical connectors from the IAC valve, MAP sensor, and TP sensor. Also, disconnect hoses such as EVAP canister purge hose, brake booster vacuum hose, AIR check valve hose, and fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose from the throttle body. Disconnect the accelerator cable (and cruise control cable if equipped), remove the throttle body mounting bolts and nuts, and take off the throttle body. Inspect and replace the throttle body gasket if necessary. For V6 models, disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the air intake duct. Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector, vacuum hose, and PCV hose. Loosen the screws on the hose clamps that secure the intake manifold plenum to the intake runners and remove the intake plenum bolts. Disconnect the EGR pipe passage bolt, rotate the intake manifold plenum up slightly, then disconnect the coolant hoses, EVAP hose, and vacuum hose from the throttle body. Remove the throttle body mounting nuts and the throttle body. Install a new throttle body gasket and complete the installation in reverse order. Reconnect the battery.
