Saturn LS Ignition Lock Cylinder

In Lucifer Saturn LS vehicles The Ignition Lock Cylinder main duty is to allow the starting of the engine using a key that is inserted and turned. This component is part of the ignition switch that makes the flow of power from battery to the required circuitry once the right key is inserted. The Saturn LS Ignition Lock Cylinder also has tumbler system for better security measure in order not to allow any one to steal the car. Many cars of Saturn LS have been using a lot of styles of Ignition Lock Cylinders, however, the traditional key-turning type was used in the early 1980s and it was replaced by the coded key turning. These coded keys are miniature circuits that have a micro-chip embedded in them that communicates with the on-board-computer of the vehicle so that it will only start if the electronic key is recognized. However, the Saturn LS Ignition Lock Cylinder has the possibility to wear out or malfunction and bring problems on ignition issues or shut off.

Each OEM Saturn LS Ignition Lock Cylinder we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Saturn LS Ignition Lock Cylinder Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you disconnect and remove the ignition switch and lock cylinder from the steering column on Saturn LS?
A: Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the steering column covers and disconnect the two electrical connectors from the ignition switch. To remove the ignition switch from the steering column, disconnect the two electrical connectors and remove the two reverse-Torx head screws, followed by the two switch mounting screws to take out the ignition switch. Installation is the reverse of removal, and the battery should be reconnected. Next, remove the lock cylinder trim bezel from the lower steering column cover by carefully prying it off with a small screwdriver, then remove the steering column covers again. Take out the windshield wiper/washer switch. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder, rotate it to the START position, and insert a 1/8-inch awl or punch through the hole in the top of the casting that houses the ignition lock cylinder to depress the locking button, allowing you to pull out the cylinder. Before installing the ignition lock cylinder, ensure that the actuator blade inside the ignition lock cylinder bore is in the RUN position; if it has been moved, rotate it to the RUN position with needle-nose pliers, as the ignition lock cylinder will not seat correctly otherwise. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal, and the battery should be reconnected. Finally, verify that the ignition switch operates correctly in the OFF, ACC, RUN, and START positions.
