Saturn LS Ignition Switch

The Ignition Switch in Saturn LS vehicles is used in ignition and charging system whereby it helps in starting the vehicle engine and any other electrical systems such as the radio or the power windows among others. Ignition Switch when twisted with a key, button or remote send information to car computer to release starter solenoid and ignition devices so that the engine can be run. For the past years, the vehicles under the Saturn LS brand have had different types of Ignition Switch, the basic ones with normal keys and the advanced keyless ones that have push buttons. These newer systems also need the use of a transponder signal to unlock it, improving security. Although the Ignition Switch is critical to engine operations, it can still be easily fixed mainly due to its layout that mainly focuses on plug-and-play, a design that is specific to Saturn LS models.

Each OEM Saturn LS Ignition Switch we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Saturn LS Ignition Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you disconnect and remove the ignition switch and lock cylinder from the steering column on Saturn LS?
A: Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the steering column covers and disconnect the two electrical connectors from the ignition switch. To remove the ignition switch from the steering column, disconnect the two electrical connectors and remove the two reverse-Torx head screws, followed by the two switch mounting screws to take out the ignition switch. Installation is the reverse of removal, and the battery should be reconnected. Next, remove the lock cylinder trim bezel from the lower steering column cover by carefully prying it off with a small screwdriver, then remove the steering column covers again. Take out the windshield wiper/washer switch. Insert the ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder, rotate it to the START position, and insert a 1/8-inch awl or punch through the hole in the top of the casting that houses the ignition lock cylinder to depress the locking button, allowing you to pull out the cylinder. Before installing the ignition lock cylinder, ensure that the actuator blade inside the ignition lock cylinder bore is in the RUN position; if it has been moved, rotate it to the RUN position with needle-nose pliers, as the ignition lock cylinder will not seat correctly otherwise. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal, and the battery should be reconnected. Finally, verify that the ignition switch operates correctly in the OFF, ACC, RUN, and START positions.
