Saturn Ion Wheel Cylinder

The Wheel Cylinder in Saturn Ion vehicles is a mechanical component that press on the brake shoes against the brake drum so that Operation stopping could be done. It is made of a cylinder that contains a piston, a rubber sealing system and a spring which compresses the brake shoes on applying hydraulic pressure on the same. The main function of the Wheel Cylinder is to guarantee that brake shoes press against the drum in order to facilitate the slowing or stopping of the vehicle. Wheel cylinders can wear out or start to leak, which will reduce the braking performance of the vehicle, although, they are not very expensive and can either be replaced or reconditioned. Present wheel cylinders are produced from aluminum in an effort to avoid rust problems which is socially prevalent in cast iron wheel cylinders. Wheel Cylinder requires periodic check ups and frequent services to avail the optimal of its capacity that improves the braking system to maintain safety.
