Saturn Ion Starter

This part is a starter and it is incorporated in Saturn Ion vehicles so as to transform the electrical energy in the battery to mechanical energy that cranks the engine. This process begins with the solenoid that is linked to the battery, and whereby it switch 'on' the starter motor. In the starter, an armature moves through the principles of electromagnetic and this turns the flywheel or the flex plate ring gear of the engine via the drive. Current Saturn Ion starters have integrated features of reduction mechanisms in that a reduction gear is used to drive the starter. This design is most valuable for high compression engines that need sturdier than original equipment or higher efficiency starters. OE starters, as powerful sources of torque, can pose problems for high-compression engines, and are not infrequently known to fail. In general, there have been changes of the Saturn Ion starter to fit these power requirements of various types of engines to support efficient engine cranking and running.

Each OEM Saturn Ion Starter we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Saturn Ion Starter Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a starter motor on a Chevrolet Cobalt,HHR and Saturn ION?
A: Turn the ignition key to OFF, then disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Raise the front of the vehicle and place it securely on jackstands. On 2.0L Supercharged models only, drain the intercooler coolant system and remove the intercooler system electric water pump. Disconnect the Battery Cable (the larger cable) and the starter control cable (the smaller cable) from the starter solenoid terminals. Remove the starter mounting bolts and remove the starter. On 2007 and later models, you may have to remove the Secondary Air Injection pump to allow room for starter removal. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the starter mounting bolts. When the battery has been disconnected, the PCM must relearn its former driveability and performance characteristics.
