Saturn Ion Radiator fan

The Radiator Fan in Saturn Ion vehicles is very crucial in as far as the circulation of the air through the radiator for temperature regulation in the engine is concerned. Located at the rear of the grille, the Radiator Fan comes on when the vehicle is idling or in slow moving, to make up for the lack of a moving vehicle's airflow. Saturn Ion models incorporate electric cooling fans from a 12V motor that provides response to the temperature of the coolant and the air condition. These fans are equipped on a shroud assembly, which is fixed in the location of the radiator to allow air flow. In Saturn Ion vehicles the fan is electric and this is controlled by the PCM which switches on the fan at a certain predetermined coolant temperature. This system may also involve one or both of the fans when the air conditioning is operating to cool the condenser. The Radiator Fan assembly can contain a fan blade, motor and mounting shroud by which the engine is cooled by reducing the temperature of the coolant fluids.

Each OEM Saturn Ion Radiator fan we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Saturn Ion Radiator fan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What is the information provided about the fans on Saturn ION?
A: There is a single fan mounted on the Radiator side of the radiator and the speed and duration are regulated by a fan control module and the PCM. The fans are protected by fuses located in the engine compartment fuse/relay box. The PCM can run the fans at Low or High speeds. If the fan is not coming on, test the fan motor and if it does not work, replace it. If the motor works but the fan is still not working, the relay may be defective. Check the fuses for continuity, and if they are okay, inspect the wiring, connections, ECT sensor, and fan control module. For removal and installation of the fan, disconnect the fan motor harness connectors, raise the vehicle and support it on jackstands, the under-vehicle splash shield should be removed, and the fan assembly should be released from the radiator and lowered out from the bottom of the vehicle.
