Saturn Ion Coolant Reservoir

The Coolant Reservoir in Saturn Ion vehicles is used to control leakage of coolant fluid, prevent entry of air into the coolant system and guard against spillage of coolant. This reservoir is usually a plastic container mounted on the radiator complete with moulded markings to help one determine the concentrations of coolant, which must be done on a cold engine. Saturn Ion vehicles utilize two primary types of coolant reservoirs: of the populated overflow and expansion tanks. The overflow system has a pressure cap, which keeps the coolant in the car's radiator, but, should the pressure exceed the limits of the cap, the coolant will collect in a basic plastic tank. On the other hand, the expansion tank system is pressurized and therefore has the pressure cap mounted directly on the tank which is made of reinforced plastic. This design allows for change in volume of the coolant, contraction and expansion while at the same time barring air from getting in contact with the coolant. It is advised the Coolant Reservoir for cracks and leaks should be checked often for it to perform effectively.

Each OEM Saturn Ion Coolant Reservoir we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Saturn Ion Coolant Reservoir Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove the coolant reservoir on Saturn ION?
A: To remove the coolant reservoir, start by draining the cooling system and disconnecting the battery. Then, unbolt the underhood fuse/relay box and move it aside. Disconnect the expansion tank return hose and air bleed hose, and remove the mounting fasteners for the expansion tank. Disconnect the Low Coolant Level sensor connector and remove the tank. Clean the tank thoroughly and inspect it for cracks, replacing it if necessary. To install the reservoir, simply reverse the removal steps. For models with a coolant reservoir, disconnect the battery and remove the air filter housing/engine cover assembly. Remove the reservoir mounting fastener and take out the reservoir. Installation is the reverse of removal.
