Pontiac Vibe Throttle Cable Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install an accelerator cable on Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe with cruise control?
A: 2005 and later models use an electric motor for the throttle, controlled by the PCM, replacing the throttle cable. 2003 and 2004 models with cruise control have two throttle cables. To remove, disconnect the battery cable, remove the cruise control actuator cover, loosen the throttle cable locknut, and detach the cable from the pedal. Remove the cable retainer bolts and pull the cable through the firewall. For installation, reverse the removal process. Ensure the grommet seats properly in the firewall. Adjust the cable by ensuring the throttle fully opens when the pedal is depressed. If not, adjust the cable and tighten the locknuts. Ensure the throttle fully closes when the pedal is released.
