Q: How to remove the battery and air cleaner element on a Pontiac Grand Prix?
A: Detach the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Caution: On models equipped with the Theftlock audio system, be sure the lockout feature is turned off before performing any procedure which requires disconnecting the battery. Remove the battery and the engine compartment diagonal support brace, if necessary. Remove the air filter box. Unplug the connector from the intake air temperature sender if necessary. Unplug the electrical connector and unclamp the air duct from the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, if equipped. Unclamp the air duct from the housing and detach any other fasteners retaining the duct. On 1997 and later models, remove the PCM and its wiring harness from the air filter box. Remove the crankcase vent tube if equipped. Remove the housing mounting bolts and lift the housing from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal.
