Q: How do I replace the blower motor and blower motor resistor in a Pontiac G6?
A: Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the insulating panel from below the dash and under the glove box in the passenger compartment, if equipped. Remove the insulating panel by pulling it down against the tension of the retaining clips. For the blower motor resistor, disconnect the electrical connector at the blower motor resistor. Remove the mounting screws securing the resistor and pull it out of the evaporator/heater core housing. Installation is the reverse of removal. Reconnect the battery. To replace the blower motor, part of the plastic housing must be cut with a sharp utility knife and the motor must be reinstalled with a factory mounting kit. Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector. Cut the plastic blower motor housing between the two concentric rings. Lower the blower motor. Installation of replacement blower motor requires a factory installation kit that includes screws and a metal ring to secure the blower motor to the housing. Before installing the screws, make sure that the motor is placed in the original position. Reconnect the battery.
