Pontiac Firebird Fuel Pressure Regulator

The Pontiac Firebird equipped with a Fuel Pressure Regulator that plays a crucial role in delivering the right fuel pressure in the electronic fuel injection system. It is normally installed on the fuel rail and it works on spring and diaphragm means through the engine vacuum to control the amount of fuel flow. During driving cycle, regulator permits un-fueled combustible mixture to flow back to the tank, with less throttle the regulator permits more vacuum but restricts return flow so as to allow adequate pressure in fuel delivery. These models, ever since the Pontiac Firebird took shape, have implemented differents types of Fuel Pressure Regulators from the standard ones to adjustable ones for modified fuel systems. Most OEM regulators are of the non-adjustable type, and thus they can really restrict the car's performance especially when one decides to install bigger injectors, or high volume pumps. On the other hand, adjustable regulators make it possible to fine tune in order to obtain the standard air to fuel ratio which in return improves the operation of the Pontiac Firebird vehicles in various configurations.

Each OEM Pontiac Firebird Fuel Pressure Regulator we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

Pontiac Firebird Fuel Pressure Regulator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you replace the Fuel Injector,Fuel Pressure Regulator,Fuel Rail,Throttle Body and Throttle Position Sensor on Pontiac Firebird?
A: To replace the throttle body, remove the negative battery terminal, still to countermeasure the anti theft on models with Delco Loe II audio. Remove the cooling system, next remove the air intake duct where the MAF spring clips and throttle body hose are connected. Remove the accelerator cable from the throttle lever and take away the cable housing retainers. Loosen the IAC valve and TPS electrical connectors: Disconnect the PCV hose from the throttle body. Untighten and remove the coolant hoses on the throttle body with expectation for drooling of the coolant. Remove the vacuum hoses with marks and remove the breather hose if, it is available. Take out the bolts that were securing the throttle body, and pull out the throttle body, make sure you clean the old gasket off then, put in the new throttle body with a new gasket, and tighten up the bolts to the right torque. The rest steps are the reverse of the above steps of removal. As for the IAC valve replacement, the procedure remains the same with the addition of the fact that on the 3.1L V6 vehicles, the valve is held in place by two screws. Before installing you are supposed to adjust the valve pintle. For the TPS replacement, make sure that throttle actuator lever is properly aligned, fit retainers & screws loosely, and splice jumper wires to set the TPS voltage 0.54v - 0.5v. Once the TPS screws were tightened, reconnect the wiring harness and finally install the MAF sensor assembly. You need to start the engine for the IAC valve to self correct the problem it is experiencing. When performing fuel rail and injector service, remove the negative battery cable, and unbolt the air intake duct, vacuum lines, throttle cable bracket. Bolts for EGR Pipe should be taken off and THB as well as plenum bolts has to be removed On 2.8L models the cold start valve line fitting has to be disconnected. Pull the fuel lines out of the turbine end and put some labels on the connectors before disconnecting the injector lines. Loosen the fuel rail and injectors and put the part apart in order to have a look at and change the damaged O-rings if there is any. Replace the new O-rings, put some lubrication on the O-rings and place the injectors and fuel rail back in place making sure that they are well fixed. For current V8 engines, some abs line will have to be detached, the MAT sensor will also have to be unplugged The intake runner assemblies and the fuel injectors will also require some bolts to be removed. Check and replace extortion screws O-rings as necessary; should grease the same and finally assemble the parts. Fuel pressure regulator on V8 models is not a rebuildable item; if faulty, it can only be replaced. Unscrews and retainers of the required fuel rail assemblies and the regulator should be removed to have an access for inspecting the O-rings that need to be replaced if they are worn out and then putting back the fuel rail assemblies and other components and locking the screws in place.
