How is the ignition switch accessed and installed on Oldsmobile Cutlass?

On Chevrolet Chevettes from 1977 onward, the ignition switch sits inside the brake pedal support, and a rod and rack system links it to the ignition lock cylinder to reduce car theft. First, set the ignition switch to 'OFF-UNLOCKED'. If you already have the lock cylinder out, pull up the switch's actuating rod until you feel a fixed position, then move it down twice. When ready to remove the switch, put it at 'OFF-UNLOCK', and confirm you've selected neutral gear before putting it back. First, use the switch slider to go two spots to the right on the dial from 'ACCESSORY' to 'OFF/UNLOCK'. The rod fits in a hole underneath the slider, and requires two simple screws to attach it to the steering column.
