GMC Terrain Rocker Arm

The Rocker Arm is used in the GMC Terrain vehicles in the valvetrain system of the internal combustion engine where it provides the necessary linkage between the pushrod and the intake and the exhaust valve. Usually made of stamped steel or aluminum, the Rocker Arm explains the transfer of the other connecting rod's vertical rotating pushrod movement into enough downward pressure on the valves. Where high rpm is involved, aluminum is used because of the reduced weight, cast iron or forged carbon steel may be used in diesel application. Some of the components that may be found in GMC Terrain include roller rockers which has needle bearings thus providing efficiency compared to other types. An updated rocker ratio that in the current engine design varies between 1.5:1 to 1.8:1 means that it enhances the way camshaft lift increases performance. High performance and heavy-duty fulcrum bearings are also applied in high revving engines to mitigate and increase the toughness of the Rocker Arm system in the GMC Terrain category of cars.

Each OEM GMC Terrain Rocker Arm we offer is competitively priced and comes with the assurance of the manufacturer's warranty for the part. Furthermore, we guarantee the speedy delivery of your orders right to your doorstep. Our hassle-free return policy is also in place for your peace of mind.

GMC Terrain Rocker Arm Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and reinstall Pushrod and rocker arm in 3.4L V6 engine on GMC Terrain?
A: To remove the components, first disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Next, remove the valve cover(s). Starting at the drivebelt end of one cylinder head, remove the rocker arm mounting bolts one at a time and detach the rocker arms, pivot balls, and pedestals, ensuring to keep each set of rocker arm components separately stored in marked plastic bags for proper reinstallation. The rocker arms have a pedestal mount captured by a metal sleeve inside, and while components can be separated by tapping the bolt out of the pedestal, they typically remain as an assembly. Remove the pushrods and store them separately to avoid mixing them up during installation, using a perforated cardboard box for organization and labeling the front end of the engine. Inspect each rocker arm for wear, cracks, and damage, particularly at the contact points with the pushrods and valve stems, and ensure the rollers operate freely and the pushrod end holes are open. Check the pushrods for cracks and excessive wear, rolling each across a piece of plate glass to detect any bends. For installation, lubricate the lower end of each pushrod with clean engine oil or moly-base grease and reinstall them in their original locations, ensuring they seat completely in the lifter socket. Apply moly-base grease to the ends of the valve stems and the upper ends of the pushrods, then install the rocker arm assemblies, tightening them to the specified torque while ensuring proper engagement of the pushrods in the rocker arms and correct positioning of the pedestal projections. Finally, install the valve covers, start the engine, and check for oil leaks and unusual sounds from the valve cover area.
