How to remove and install a rear hub assembly,Wheel Bearing and Wheel Seal for Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL?

To remove and install a rear hub assembly, first remove the axleshaft and rear wheels, then remove the brake disc and retaining ring/key from the end of the axle housing. Use a special socket to remove the adjusting nut and pull the hub assembly straight off the axle tube. Discard the oil seal and clean and inspect all components for wear or damage. Disassemble the hub further if necessary, then clean and reassemble using new bearing cups and lubricating with wheel bearing grease. To install, place the hub assembly on the axle tube and adjust the bearings by tightening the adjusting nut to 50 ft-lbs, then backing it off and tightening it hand-tight. Install the key and retaining ring, and ensure there is no play in the hub assembly before reinstalling the axleshaft and lowering the vehicle.

How to remove and install a front hub assembly on Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL?

First, remove the front wheel lug nuts and raise the vehicle on jackstands to remove the hub assembly. Remove the tire and on a 4WD model, take off the hub cover and use a socket combined with large breaker bar to unscrew off driveaxle/hub nut. Brake disc as well as wheel speed sensor should be pulled out of the hub after that remove the hub retaining bolts from steering knuckle as well as disc shield. In case it is necessary tap out of side to side then pull out of steering knuckle. Before fitting a new hub assembly, clean mating surfaces at steering knuckle, bearing flange and knuckle bore. Afterward fit bearing assembly into steering knuckle (or onto drive-axle for 4WD models). Put brake disc, caliper mounting bracket, caliper and wheel speed sensor back in place (for 4WD models). Reinstall driveaxle/hub nut torquing it to specifications. Lastly put back wheel on jack stands finally tighten lug nuts to specifications while lowering vehicle.

A: To remove and install a rear hub assembly, first remove the axleshaft and rear wheels, then remove the brake disc and retaining ring/key from the end of the axle housing. Use a special socket to remove the adjusting nut and pull the hub assembly straight off the axle tube. Discard the oil seal and clean and inspect all components for wear or damage. Disassemble the hub further if necessary, then clean and reassemble using new bearing cups and lubricating with wheel bearing grease. To install, place the hub assembly on the axle tube and adjust the bearings by tightening the adjusting nut to 50 ft-lbs, then backing it off and tightening it hand-tight. Install the key and retaining ring, and ensure there is no play in the hub assembly before reinstalling the axleshaft and lowering the vehicle.

A: First, remove the front wheel lug nuts and raise the vehicle on jackstands to remove the hub assembly. Remove the tire and on a 4WD model, take off the hub cover and use a socket combined with large breaker bar to unscrew off driveaxle/hub nut. Brake disc as well as wheel speed sensor should be pulled out of the hub after that remove the hub retaining bolts from Steering Knuckle as well as disc shield. In case it is necessary tap out of side to side then pull out of steering knuckle. Before fitting a new hub assembly, clean mating surfaces at steering knuckle, bearing flange and knuckle bore. Afterward fit bearing assembly into steering knuckle (or onto drive-axle for 4WD models). Put brake disc, caliper mounting bracket, caliper and wheel speed sensor back in place (for 4WD models). Reinstall driveaxle/hub nut torquing it to specifications. Lastly put back wheel on jack stands finally tighten lug nuts to specifications while lowering vehicle.
