Q: How do you remove and install rear and front cables for Chevrolet Astro and GMC Safari?
A: To remove the rear cables, first loosen the wheel lug nuts and then raise the back of the car on jack stands. Then, take off the wheels and loosen the equalizer nut to slacken the cables. Disconnect wire from equalizer that you want to replace. Finally, locate and release tangs on cable housing retainer; push them through backing plate; then, pull housing and cable out through rear of plate. To install rear cable reverse removal procedure including adjusting cable as necessary. For front cable, start by raising vehicle and supporting it securely on jackstands. Loosen equalizer assembly to provide slack in cable, then disconnect it or front cable from next joiner near equalizer.
